Quality Engineer, Oceanbird

Oceanbird is now looking for a Mechanical Quality Engineer to join our team. As a company at the forefront of disruptive technologies for the shipping industry, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to ensure our product quality. Your role will be vital in driving the adoption of wind propulsion solutions, and by that revolutionizing the shipping industry.

We are manufacturing large components in small series. Manufacturing of components is outsourced to suppliers working with welded and machined steel structures, glass fiber composites, hydraulics etc. You will be part of securing quality from the suppliers but also establishing new suppliers.

You will also secure that we are following relevant standards and work with our quality processes.

 

What will you do?

You will have an overall product quality responsibility,

 

  • Develop and implement quality assurance strategies and processes to minimize risks and improve the overall quality of our products.
  • Collaborate with our sourcing team to assess and select suppliers based on quality performance metrics.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers to help them meet our quality expectations.
  • Ensuring that we are developing, manufacturing and deliver according to relevant standards.
  • Plan and execute certification of relevant ISO and class standards.
  • Develop and implement quality processes in the organization.

 

Who are you?

To succeed in this role, you should have:

 

  • An interest in sustainability and a willingness to contribute to a better future.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in product quality work in a mechanical manufacturing environment of smaller series.
  • A genuine technical interest and experience from different manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge in reading drawings and verify compliance with specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience in supplier quality management and auditing.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Travels: approximately 45 days / year
