In recent years we have supported Ship Owners in realizing state of the art LNG-powered and ice-classed RoRo-vessels as well as battery hybrid vehicle carriers. Wallenius Marine has also developed the Oceanbird concept for fully wind-powered car-carriers and is now leading the design development of the first vessels based on the concept. This ground breaking concept has the potential to transform shipping forever and is now about to be realized within the next few years!

To further strengthen our organization, we are now looking for a Design Manager responsible for machinery systems who wants to join us and drive shipping towards zero emissions.

About the position

In this position, as part of our design team, you will be the lead design specialist for machinery systems and responsible for initial design studies, performance calculations, requirements specifications, supplier contacts and plan approval related to concept development and newbuilding of vessels. You will also have a leading role related to energy savings and new fuels as part of the necessary transition in the shipping industry. The position is full-time and is based in Stockholm and travelling will be required from time to time.

Who are you?

For this position a suitable background is Marine Engineer, Naval Architect or similar with high interest in the design and development of vessels and in new technologies. Your background is probably a senior role in a shipping company, a shipyard, a consultancy company or a manufacturer and we think that you have at least 10 years working experience. You need to be a good team player with an analytical and creative mindset paired with a high interest in the marine industry and its current and future challenges. Not the least, you have a strong commitment to the environment and a drive to create innovative and sustainable solutions. As we are committed to gender balance, we welcome female applicants for this position.  

 

Some travel is to be expected.

This role is located in Stockholm.
