Job Description

 

To strengthen our diverse talent-team in Digital & IT, we are currently looking for a Data Engineer within the Data Services EMEA & Oceania Unit.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen currently has an ongoing “data liberation” program, with the aim of optimizing our use of modern tools for analytics, AI so that we can make better business decisions through data driven flows. We possess a massive estate of data and data sources and need someone to own and gather retrieval, storage and distribution until stage of preparation by wiring in existing architecture and part take in the natural evolution to follow.  Agile teams are the working methodology, and we employ best practice through Azure devOps.

As our Data Engineer, you will be an integrated and vital member of the Data team, working closely with stakeholders across IT and external vendors (consultancies). Initial focus will be on marine efficiency, operational excellence for shipping and sustainability requirements.

You will also work closely with the group’s various Business teams to guide them in their needs for any data delivered fast, frequently and securely.

 

We believe the successful candidate

 

  • Is passionate about data importance, accuracy and security with desire to help making a difference in the consumption end
  • Has excellent knowledge of various database design /architecture, warehousing, modelling and mining plus knowhow of multiple programming languages, ETL, integration methods etc
  • Is self-motivated and dare to take initiatives
  • Is curious and continuously learning, whether it is new Digital trends or new technologies
  • Can communicate clearly with colleagues and management who don’t have a technical background
  • Is positive, open-minded and embraces change
  • Is a team-player who is supportive of colleagues and enjoys working with different people
  • Isn’t afraid to speak up and challenge the business and external stakeholders

 

We believe the successful candidate has around 5 years’ relevant working experience such that they are able to:

  • Develop code to properly deploy into production environments with Quality Assurance
  • Experience with Dev/Ops methodology is a plus
  • Conduct data analysis and make correlations between systems
  • Build Data Pipelines and experience in Data Ingestion
  • Strong in ETL processes
  • Experience with Big Data and IOT a plus
  • Comfortably work with Power BI and BI analysis
  • Work on different projects and drive them forward
